Amazing Solstice!

With all the action in the solar system, Solstice this year will be game-changing, both for human people and for Gaia

Solstice has always been the highest holy day for me. It turns out that Solstice is right on my midheaven. It is a time when Gaia’s energies celebrate with the heavens, especially the value of darkness as integral to creation – the most female energy, yin; the truth of deep, full dark holding Light; the fullness of safety in being enfolded. It is gathering all into deepest being, deepest conceiving and gestating. Capricorn (since it’s only winter in the northern hemisphere) Solstice cascades love of all Being, of Gaia, of the cosmos. There is such a feeling of fullness and comfort.

I love best a cold, snowy, still night with the stars amazingly bright. We tromp into the woods by candlelight and decorate a tree with edible ornaments for our animal family of the forest.

This year Solstice is exceptionally special. Extra-terrestrial energies have been showering us for months (if not years), in a truly unique¹ array. Solar CMEs² and flares, have been bathing us with light day and night (who saw the aurora borealis? Nov 12? They were visible as far south as Texas), 3I-Atlas became visible on Earth in July. It has been traveling for millions of years . It interacted with the sun during a solar storm on September 29^th (solar system comets usually are disrupted by solar storms); reached its perihelion (aka got closest to the sun) on Oct 29, right before Samhain. It will get closest to Earth on December 19, right before Solstice. That 3I-Atlas achieved such precise timing to connect during those cyclical dates of Gaia’s opening, sharing, and receiving energies with the cosmos, while having traveled billions of miles, are amazing feats of accuracy and imply purposefulness and relatedness. When connecting with those galactic emissions of the Sun and 3I-Atlas as well as those from other stars related to us, the energies have felt like great gifts of expansiveness coming from a preprogrammed message from an ancient civilization who foresaw our need.

The new moon will be December 19^th where I am, which astrologers and seers are heralding as one of the most dynamic new moon events ever. It heralds the unique star alignments occurring in February, April and on, that have not been seen in over 6,000 years. These alignments astrologically herald abrupt changes, new beginnings, new directions, reconnection with, and respect for the amazing complexity and necessity of Nature, increasing respect for women and female creative energies, valuing justice, connection, compassion, right-livelihood – all the characteristics that we have been striving to awaken human cultures to. They all signify change, collapse of imbalanced dominator/destroyer, dualistic, power-hungry orders and the rise of the true Age of Aquarius.

We cannot despair about the state of the world. That only feeds the destructive energies that Gaia is trying to release herself from. Our job is to clear our own energies from the effects of ages of constricting, dominating/victimizing, denying-type darkness – the Kali Yuga (which ended on March 21, 2025, according to Bibhu Dev Misra’s thoroughly documented 2023 book Yuga Shift: The End of the Kali Yuga & The Impending Planetary Transformation) – so that we do not keep ourselves mired in our negative patterns and historical pain, our trauma-induced assumptions and beliefs about life and the world. They are what make us so vulnerable to the news. We need to free ourselves so that we can see and support the increasing Light and positive energies flowing in, and connect with the sentience of all of Gaia, our animal relatives, plant relatives, form community with all human people. As we resolve and release our own stuck energies and increase our light, we help build to expansive, positive energies and support Gaia in her travails.

The energy of creating is what we call love – high amplitude, low frequency waves of energy that prompt delight, peace, and creation. So, adding to my usual Solstice message is this one, that amidst the chaos of the collapsing order is the rising of the positive, with so many beings offering us energies with which to make the difficult changes to our ways of living, our values and cultural beliefs, the ways we’ve treated all other beings, that we human people must make.

As the earth’s passage around the sun seems to stop, time pauses. It is not a time to fear the darkness. We are part of Gaia and of the cosmos. Let’s affirm our being one with Life and commit to rehabilitating, protecting, and caring for Nature-which-is-all-of-Life-including-us. We are not separate from All-That-Is. (What an insane, crooked, despair-inducing assumption that was!)

The magic of Solstice is in the call to settle into the still point at our true center and find our spirit here. Since all energies are conscious (as all energies are connected), we want to embody and promote the powers of love, peace, joy, interrelatedness as much as possible.

Solstice is about the magic, the magnificent, humming, inclusive Spirit that can be perceived in safe, natural darkness. This darkness is essential and valuable in itself as well as being the holder of the Light. Breathe with the energy of the night, the stars, the Earth. Feel the breathing of your cells, your organs, your systems. Let it pervade every wave of energy of your being. Connect with the breathing of Nature that holds you, then wider throughout the land, then the whole of the Earth, the Milky Way, the Cosmos. Expand and release with the day into night, weeks into years, into the waves in All-That-Is. Sink into it, rest and be restored. Feel the stillness of the Spirit – your true center vibrating as one with the air, the starlight, the earth, the silent, blanketing snow. Replenish your Spirit in this moment of infinite Peace.
