This is my Creation Story
We are in terrible danger, and we have an unprecedented opportunity to upgrade life on Earth
Once, there was All, and space without end. And somehow, became a puff, an inhale, a release; and then another inhale, and then release. And all along, consciousness; and newly, awakenings. And a wave formed, and then another, and always spaciousness, awareness.
And throughout space, as breaths continued, awareness played, explored, experimented with breaths; came together and formed chemicals and gradually the breaths and chemical beingness created forms, played with shapes, with density and compression into minerals, rocks; played with combinations of themselves and made water. And expansion and contraction and awareness played together and created asteroids and planets, and webs of energy expanded through space.
And then Being wondered which coalescences would support beings who could replicate themselves, and so life cycles began. And some of the mineral entities became very involved with the creation of living beings and made threads and webs of interaction that helped living continue and also mirrored the webs of consciousness in space.
And one of the most skilled and joyful beings played and experimented. More and more complex and intricate became her creations, that she became known for her beautiful webs of giving and receiving, helping, doing what was needed. All were expressions of her. She designed and fed each aspect of them, the furthering of all the webs of interactions between them. She loved seeing a need and fulfilling it through the offerings of another creation and seeing both benefit. She created webs of giving and receiving and continuing of life, who/kin (as Robin Wall Kimmerer would say) were appreciated and enjoyed by beings all over space. For all were beings, all interactions, all entities, all functions.
All Her beings had a vital and maybe hilarious (for She was joyful and fun-loving) niche in the order of life, growing, succeeding, developing, receiving nourishment. Each connection, each interchange, the smallest spore/virus/cell/microbe set the foundation for all the forests, oceans, prairies, mountains. And all of those were as the microbes were – intertwined, nourishing others, receiving life and nourishment, warning of predators and other dangers, giving sustenance and information to other. All had friends, helped others, exchanged information, help and comfort, eating and eventually returning their bodies to nourish Life, and then becoming again in a different form, as Life continued and developed.
After many games and experiments with webs, Gaia found that her entirety was one of the most complex and intricately interdependent in the Universe. And she received communication from other systems all over the universe who played with creating living beings who replicated and could develop complex systems. And she began talking with the beings of those systems.
Gaia had developed the most intricate and evolved self, for she was all of the parts of her creation. When the systems of each area had become increasingly complex, Gaia thought it might be handy to have children who had hands and bodies that could perform a wide range of functions to help in making things work more smoothly or repair damage from extreme events as She hurtled through space. She had talked with such beings from stars such as Sirius, the Pleiades, Arcturus. She figured that children with free will could be flexible and not confined to one or a few niches. They’d need to listen to Her not only through directions grown into their beings, but also by hearing her with the ability to move in new and different directions. They would need to listen to her and know their connections with all beings, and act independently and creatively.
Advanced people from other star systems had wrestled with growing pains and had transformed their physical and emotional energies, and their entire civilizations, to being based in Light, energetically aware and aligned with Source Intelligence. Gaia was eager to dance with the beings from other star systems and see what would happen if their advanced DNA was combined with one of Her complex creations. The Galactics seeded some of Gaia’s creatures with DNA of several of their races, and she set about developing humans.
As some groups of humans grew, they embraced their role in all of Life, learned to hear and respond to the needs of Gaia, and embraced their role as care-givers. They valued all as sacred. Some focussed on the needs of water, some of certain four-legged beings, some of birds, some of mountains. They raised their children to feel one with Life, to feel strong and capable, to value connection with all the beings in their part of the earth. They felt grateful and joyful for gifts given - for food, clothing, shelter, prayer, responsibility, enlightenment, fun, beauty, wonder. They felt their belonging. They felt embraced by the wondrous web within which they lived.
Other groups got lost. They shut down any awareness within themselves, so that they lost the ability to hear Gaia, to know that they had a place in the order of things. They did not raise their children to feel connected and joyful and safe as part of the Earth, to feel gratitude for all they were given, or to see that their role in the web of interdependence was to respond, help, and care for. They felt alone, lacking, fearful of other humans, and afraid of other beings. They taught their children to see Life as inanimate, just there for the taking, using, and discarding. And because they feared others, they believed that fighting and destroying were the only way to get what they wanted. As they could not hear Gaia, they stopped valuing other beings, creators, the caring ones, the humans who could see and feel concern about the whole and about the future. Men denigrated the women, because women create and relate. Men were taught to value force and domination, because they could not feel the safety and abundance all around them. They set up institutions to enforce objectifying women, other-than-human beings, plant beings and humans who appear different. They saw the wonders of Nature as objects to use and that it was okay to throw things away, to waste other beings, and to lay waste to the land. In their compaction, fear, and emptiness, they turned to destroying the cultures and lands that were expansive, connected, and loving toward other-than-humans, as those who knew how to live scared them.
Humans were the most recent beings developed. All other-than-humans know how to take care of ecosystems, how to communicate, help others, create solutions to problems within their range. We are here to be respectful of the amazing wisdom and creativity of all Nature that we are created within.
Now we are at a precipice caused by our destructiveness. We have been given warnings. We can choose not to listen. Then we’ll be stuck with the effects of our not having recognized that other beings are sentient, wise, interactive, and help all life; that we’ve treated all of this amazing planet as useless objects except for what we can make of them; that we we’ve destroyed our home; that we’ve treated each other terribly, because we’ve been trained to see anyone – any “thing” different – as vile, worthless except for what we can get from them. We’ve become empty, disconnected, afraid, depressed, terrified, lonely, endlessly greedy and hungry. AND THERE IS NO NEED FOR ANY OF THIS PAIN.
We have an unprecedented opportunity, right now, to see a new level of evolution in humans and in how we experience life. We must choose to listen to Nature within us, the voices of Spirit, the energies of the larger whole.
All we have to do is recognize that we’ve been wrong about so much - about other creatures, that we have not seen the wisdom and breath-taking brilliance of all Life. And we do have to uncover and discard the damaging assumptions and replace them with awareness of the way Life and the energies of the Universe really work.
It’s so fun to see that we we’ve been wrong. Seriously. Because it’s so exciting to see how rocks plan, how wolves move rivers, how trees warn others about dangers, about the glory of the life of a mouse. It’s so fun to see that we are surrounded by family, by those other-than-humans who care for us, even after all the suffering that we have caused.
We have to heal our own issues that have kept us so defensive and bunkered against life, love, interaction, inter-connectedness, and mutability. It takes effort to get ourselves to open the clenched fist, to breathe and ease the spasmed muscles held in fear and anger. Then we’ll be able to lean back and be held within the web, and we’ll learn to feel that we belong. If we can see our way to what we can do to support the Web, there is such joy, such relief from all the struggle.
What dissolves the terror is seeing that we do have a place in the order of life, that we belong, that we have meaning, have jobs that are imperative to the world and also to our own wellbeing. Then we can feel the satisfaction of working for the benefit of the largest “greater than ourselves” that we can, which is the whole of Life. There is such relief and freedom, such value and comfort in realizing that we do belong within the Whole, that by healing our own pain, we increase our resilience and ability. We can relax into recognizing that we are all part of Web of Interdependence. We can succeed. All we need to do is learn to be with, let go, open, and connect.
Loved your creation, story Sarah, and the invitation to us humans to step into a new/old relationship with the Earth. So joyful and playful the way you tell it!
Beautiful story, Sarah. Thank you for uplifting my day!
